How it works

Post. Match. Choose. Done.

Two flows on Handi — seekers and providers — share one simple backbone: every conversation belongs to a job, and every review belongs to a completed one.

If you need work done

1

Check the cost estimator first

Pick a service + your province → see the indicative price band before you post. Quote-shopping is harder when you already know the range.

2

Post a job

Title, description, location, photos, budget.

3

Get matched

Providers with ≥ 80% profile-match get a notification.

4

Invite up to 3 pros

Pick the best-fit pros from the matched list. One shared brief, three quotes, no awkward "I went with someone else" calls.

5

Message & compare

Each chat is tied to that specific job. Negotiate, share photos, accept their offer inside the thread.

6

Choose one pro

The others auto-close with a polite system message.

7

Complete & review

Mark done, leave stars and comments — both ways.

Got something that needs fixing?

Post it in a minute — local pros reach out to you, not the other way around.

What "closed" really means

Jobs move through clear states: open → awarded → in_progress → completed. Once a job is awarded to one provider, other threads on that job close with a polite system message. Completed conversations are read-only — both sides can leave a review, and the rating updates on the public profile.

Frequently asked

What does it cost to use Handi-za?
Handi-za is completely free for both seekers and providers during early access. There are no per-job fees, no commission cuts, and no contact-unlock paywalls. If we ever add optional pro features (featured listings, subscriptions), we will announce it clearly here first — and the core "post a job, find a pro" flow will always be free.
What if the pro does not show up?
Open the conversation thread for that job and let us know via the in-app report button or email support@handi-za.co.za. We follow up with the provider, mark the no-show on their record, and the job goes straight back to open so you can pick someone else without re-posting. Repeat no-shows lose their listing.
Does Handi-za handle the money?
No — payments happen directly between you and the pro, off-platform, in whichever way suits the two of you (EFT, SnapScan, cash on completion, etc.). Handi-za is a matching + messaging platform, not an escrow. Discuss the price in the conversation thread, agree before work starts, and keep that thread as your written record.
Can I get a refund?
Because Handi-za does not hold your money, there is nothing on our side to refund. If a pro takes payment and disappears or under-delivers, contact safety@handi-za.co.za with the job link and the conversation — we will investigate, suspend their account if warranted, and provide whatever documentation you need to chase the matter through the small-claims court or your bank dispute process.
What is the difference between messaging and hiring?
Posting a job opens a separate conversation with every pro who reaches out — you can chat, compare quotes, ask for examples, all without committing. Hiring means clicking "Choose this provider" on one thread. That awards the job to them, moves it to in_progress, and politely auto-closes the other threads with a system message. You can still cancel and re-open if the chosen pro pulls out.
How are reviews verified?
A review can only be left by someone whose job is marked completed. Drive-by ratings, fake five-star sprays, and reviews unattached to real work are impossible by design. Both sides review each other — seekers rate providers, providers rate seekers — so reputation flows both ways.
Is my contact info shared with strangers?
Your phone number and email stay private until you choose to share them inside a conversation. Pros see your first name, suburb (not exact address), and the job details you wrote. Profile photos are optional. You can request a full data export or delete your account from your profile at any time.
How does a provider verification badge work?
A blue "ID verified" badge means the pro uploaded a government ID and we reviewed it against their profile name. It is a strong trust signal, but not a guarantee — we still recommend asking for examples of past work and checking the reviews tab on any pro's public profile before hiring.
I am a pro — how do I get more jobs?
Three things move the needle: complete every section of your provider profile (work history, education, photos), respond to message requests within a couple of hours, and keep a high response rate on your stats. Pros with full profiles + fast response + good reviews appear higher in service-category searches and get matched-job notifications first.
Who runs Handi-za?
Handi-za is built and run by Jean de Dieu Nihorimbere from Cape Town. See About for the why-we-built-this story, or email info@handi-za.co.za and you will hear back from a human within a working day.
